Tokheim 1150/1250

Description
Often referred to as the Explorer. This is Tokheim’s original work horse. It was produced up until 1996. The 1150 is the predecessor to the 1250. They are essentially the same unit, differing only in the design of the base. The tapered base identifies the 1150. Both lighted and unlighted units are available. High-
speed versions of both models are available as well

There were two main resets: Model 66 the non-power mechanical style and Model 77, which featured electrical
resetting. Units with cast-iron reset bodies have little market value.

Single pumps and dual hose, single product pumps contain 1/2 horsepower intermittent duty motors. In the 1150 and the 1250 the motors rotate clockwise, except in the dual hose, dual product 1250 both motors are 1/3 hp and turn counterclockwise.

Popular Production Options
Mechanical units can be optionally equipped with slowdown valves and pulsers for use in self-service installations. Presence or absence of these features is an important consideration when buying or selling one of these units, as they are a costly retrofit.

Retrofit Options

For a long period of time, Tokheim offered a “glider kit” comprising a 1250 frame and sheet metal. This kit allowed Tokheim distributors to construct a new-looking product by taking internal components from a used one.

Suction Pumps and Blenders

Due to the narrow base being able to accommodate only one motor and pumping unit, the 1150 was only
produced in a single hose suction model. The 1250 had a wider base and could accommodate two suction pumps.

Console Compatibility
Both the 1150 and the 1250 can be used alongside newer electronic units (MMDs, TCSs) and on the same console.

Model 184 and 179 consoles connect to 1150s and 1250s through 94-4 or 94-8 power centers. A 176A printer is
optional. Triangle MicroSystems 800F, TMS-16, and MPC will also operate the 1150 and 1250.

Comments/Usage Recommendation

Although the two models are essentially the same, several 1150 trim parts are no longer available or have limited availability. Hence, it is not recommended for new installations. The 1250 is always a reliable choice where
a mechanical unit is needed.
Although Tokheim is no longer manufacturing equipment, Dresser-Wayne has acquired the Tokheim parts business and intends to support Tokheim service parts customers for the foreseeable future. We feel that this commitment, together with the large installed base of Tokheim equipment, means that parts supply will continue to be good.
