Trimline |

|
|
| Description |
|
| The
Trimline series is Gilbarcos workhorse mechanical
unit. The illustration
shows
a Trimline pump, which has 27" doors. Trimline
dispensers have a narrower lower cabinet with 21"
doors. Dispensers are easily recognizable because the
lower cabinet is narrower than the head, giving a T
appearance to the unit. |
| |
|
| |
| The
earliest Trimlines can be identified by their cast iron
reset body. These units have little or no market value.
Originally, Trimline hydraulics included solenoid valves
in the product lines; later units have hydraulic trees
controlled by a solenoid valve in the electrical junction
box. |

Production Options |
| |
| The Trimline was offered in both lighted and unlighted versions. A glassless bezel was also an option. The most common units, however, have glass bezels and are lighted. Unlighted Trimlines with black dial faces were widely used by Exxon, however. |
| |
| Trimline single and dual-2 product pumps contain one 1/3 horsepower, counter clockwise rotation, intermittentduty motor for each product |
|
| dispensed. Dual 1-product pumps contain a 3/4 hp continuous-duty motor. |
|
Besides standard units, Trimlines are available in highspeed configurations including truck-stop master/slave sets. Several options in high-speed units were manufactured. The highest-speed units (Ultra-Hi) use rotary meters manufactured by Liquid Controls, Inc. (LC meters) instead of the piston-type Gilbarco meter. There is also a series of commercial pumps and dispensers (indicating gallons only, no dollar pricing or
computation). |
|
Mechanical units can be optionally equipped with
slowdown valves and pulsers for use in self-service installations. Presence or absence of these features is an important consideration when buying or selling one of these units, as they are a costly retrofit. |

| |
| Retrofit
Options |
| |
| Trimlines can easily be retrofitted for balance vapor by fitting an externally-mounted splitter valve. |

| Suction
Pumps and Blenders |
| |
| Trimline suction pumps were manufactured in quantity, but export demand has removed many of them from theU.S. market. |
| |
| Installation of a blend valve (see pages 17 and 49) will allow use of the Trimline to dispense a blended fuel grade. No factory blending options were offered. |

Tips |
| |
| When using a Gilbarco pulser in a Trimline, you must use a Gilbarco console like a T8, 9, or 10. With a third party console system, a Veeder-Root pulser is normally required. |
| |
| It is common to find Trimline dispensers that have been converted to higher-gallonage configurations by modifying the piping and/or the meter setup. In DurEquips opinion, most such conversions are in technical violation of NTEP certification requirements and a user could find his equipment red-tagged by a Weights & Measures inspector. |

Recommendation |
| |
Trimline dispensers are a good choice for locations where there is a requirement for mechanical units. As a 1991 Gilbarco sales brochure said: Trimline dispensers continue to be a viable choice for retail or high gallonage
sites not needing the specialized wizardry of modular electronics. Trimline suction pumps are somewhat rare, due to demand from exporters. |
| |
The delivery rate of pumps and dispensers rated as high speed is highly dependent on installation factors such as piping and submersible pump configuration. In our
experience, it is rare to see delivery rates as high as the factory maximum specifications for these units. |
| |
| The vast majority of older Gilbarco meters leak to one degree or another. Buyers of used Gilbarco equipment should expect that, in most cases, the meter(s) will need replacement or will need to have gaskets and seals replaced. This tendency toward leaks is worsened in equipment where gaskets have dried out due to extended storage before re-installation. |
