Gilbarco Salesmaker
 
Description
The Salesmaker 2 and Salesmaker 4 are MPD-styled single- or dual- product units that are popular at locations where an “extra” product like diesel, kerosene, or racing gas is sold. Exxon, for example, used large numbers of Salesmaker 2s at locations where MPD dispensers were used for gasoline sales.
 
 
There are two versions of the Salesmaker 2, a low-hose unit (illustrated) and a high-hose unit designated the Salesmaker 2H.
 
There are also two versions of the Salesmaker 4, each meant to visually match Gilbarco MPDs. The narrowcolumn version (illustrated) resembles the MPD-A3. The wide-column version, designated the Salesmaker 4A, resembles later MPD-series dispensers. The wide column version is also about a foot taller than the narrowcolumn
unit, at eight feet total height. Salesmaker 4’s are always 4 hose, 2 product units.
 
Salesmaker 4s (but not 4Hs) use the same 27" door and door cap that is used on Highline pumps.
 
From a maintenance standpoint, the Salesmaker 2 is essentially the same as the Highline.
 
 
Popular Production Options
 
Standard production options on Gilbarco electronic equipment include cash/credit (2-level) pricing and customer preset. Preset is not a common option and most equipment originally provided with cash/credit pricing has been converted back to one price per grade.
 
The Salesmaker 2 was available as a suction model.
 
High gallonage dispensers were made in the following configurations; 27, 40 and 60 gallons per minute (gpm) when operated with a satellite or 23, 30 and 40 gpm when operated alone. Only the single hose suction was available in a high speed (12-14 gpm estimated).
 
Console Compatibility
 
All Highlines and SM2s are compatible with the
Gilbarco Transac 11 or higher. The modular units
should be operated with a T12A or better. The TMS MPC will also operate Salesmakers.
 
Comments/Usage Recommendation
 
The Salesmakers are a good choice for a supplemental product at a location using Gilbarco MPDs, but are no widely available on the used market. This is especially true of the Salesmaker 2. Lead times may be longer than for more common equipment.
